Honeywell Universal Replacement Mod Motors

Honeywell’s “Mod Motor” style of electric actuator has been the most popular of its type in the HVAC industry. They have been used since the 1930’s and are found in gymnasiums,YMCA’s, industrial plants, hospitals and multizone units. Honeywell has built a large assortment of styles and signal configurations to meet a variety of needs over the years. OEM’s have requested special models for their HVAC units.

The newest style—the “MOD IV”— has been designed to be a flexible replacement for virtually all of those old actuators.They are dimensionally compatible with most models and will usually bolt right up to the old application.

Honeywell Spring Return Actuators

Spring return motors are useful for “fail-safe” operation under power failure conditions. If emergency heat is needed, use spring return “open” models.

The M8185 replaces all M205,405, 455, 465, 805, 845 and 865 models. The M9185, 86 will adapt to any signal you need using one of the signal interface modules available.

Select your timing according to the type of system you have:

Pressure Independent systems, when used with a pneumatic or electric controller, can react faster to changes in air flow demand and can utilize the faster, 90 second models.

Pressure Dependent systems do not use individual zone air flow and depend on the system pressure to maintain flow. These systems require the slower, 3- and 7-minute motors to maintain a stable temperature.

These new style motorized valves are a compact alternative to the sweat zone valves normally used for light duty applications. They are available with new signal options for building automation—DDC floating and 0–10Vdc. The body is a direct dimensional replacement for the older style V4043/V8043 series zone valves. For fan coil applications, 2- and 3-way flare is also available. Depending on the piping configurations, the 3-way valves can be used for either mixing or diverting service. Models shown include one meter connector cable.
